Anchoring in Kirby Creek

My mistake, went round again yesterday, the sign is there but being ignored.

The spot inside Honeypot is very deep almost next to the island but closer to the landing stage than the varnished yacht on a buoy.

Kirby Creek is no longer listed as a shellfish bivalve mollusc production site.

Last year I found 2-3m below CD over enough space for myself and the others in there. The current Navionics sonar chart seemed to be representative.

New oyster layings being done this afternoon upstream of Titchmarsh Marina. The young fisherman says Kirby Creek to be done plus somewhere else he mentioned but I can't remember. Assume no anchoring signs soon!

Presumably, these new layings are backed by appropriate licensing, which should be on public record?

Not sure - wasn't there an issue re water pollution the reason why the oysters ceased to be harvested previously? Whether withies will mark the area, and whether any "Official Orders etc" as was signposted previously will be applied for, I'm guessing it's a case of wait and see.

Interesting, the Twizzle, with its numerous commercial moorings, links the Walton Channel to The Wade. Titchmarsh Marina lies on the Twizzle between the Walton Channel and The Wade (which dries) so there is no upstream from the Twizzle.

Kirby Creek lies to the west of The Wade and the upper reaches, past Skipper Island, also dry.

From a practical point of view, I suspect any new oyster layings will have limited impact on anchoring or using The Backwaters.

When I next see him, I will ask The Seal Man, who knows all about goings on in The Backwaters.

It had the same no anchoring notices "Many Orders" etc up to a few years ago as Kirby Creek had. There's been several boats anchoring beyond the last mooring buoy roughly near Coles Creek, this summer.

It doesn't say whether Kirby Creek is being used, but it gives a classification and monitoring plan for it.

Food classified as borderline or unsatisfactory are rarely considered to be unsafe to consume." - I expect there is a typo!
