Anchor warp reel

I came across this in the current Force 4 catalogue which can be fitted to a rail....but once there presume it’s permanent so might not be what you are wanting....looks neat though, but would want to check the robustness of the plastic68D8CE9C-E742-49C2-B5C5-A1BCD2C78557.jpeg

Before you rush off and scavenge for another dud fender. I was thinking about the use of the old fender. If you have any chain in the spare rode/kedge rode then the weight of the chain and the inherent floppiness of a fender exacerbated by the hole you cut out might not allow the fender to work too well.

A piece of 110mm PVC tube could also be used for storage of an anchor.

I have a similar setup using heavy duty stainless steel tube for my Danforth type anchors with tabs welded to stop the flooks swinging.

I tried using flat webbing (as in jackstay ) as an anchor rode. When anchored in a strong tide it made a horrible vibrating sound. It is probably ok in the Baltic with very small tides but I would avoid it in uk waters.

Yes ... makes no difference Baltic or not ... wind will create a hum on it. Not sure if tide would though ... but maybe.

Its a common warp for kedge use as over here ... pulling up bow to a bank ... couple of bow lines to trees .. kedge out astern ...

Even going into a pontoon based mooring - often you would drop the kedge ... then slowly motor bow to pontoon ...

Same effect as the tacoma narrows bridge.

For very occasional use, Ankoralina is quite expensive. I also did not like the idea of leaving something exposed to the mediterranean UV all the time. So I bought WEB3550SE Web strap 35mmx 50m c/w soft eyes each end LOOM ST £72.00 from Absolute Industrial . It is stable in the UV. For storage I put it on a reel such as this one. The reel sits in a locker ready for use.
