I have fibreglass splitting and damage in my anchor locker ( family four).
I'm assuming best way to fix is to re fibreglass over damaged area.
Can't understand why this area of the boat isn't more robust considering the heavy usage !
Any advice on best way to repair would be appreciated.
Thanks

If by family four you are referring to a Shetland then I would guess it is just single skin circa 6mm thick.
If you are damaging that then just skinning over is not likely to improve the situation much. I would suggest that you glass in some wooden stringers say 30mm wide by 8 - 10 mm thick. Bend them to shape ( wet / steam ) first. Having chosen the best direction to collect your anchor before the skin does .

Clean the original skin with soap and water then dry, abrade the surface with 80 grit paper and clean with acetones.
Then just glass them in with 2 - 3 layers of 350 gsm CSM and polyester resin , which the original boat is almost certainly made of.

good luck.
