Anchor lights?

When entering an anchorage from seaward, with shore lights behind, lights at deck level are hard to see. It is counter intuitive maybe but I find that masthead lights are twice as easy to see and interpret than any lower light.

Any extra lights are a bonus as long as they cannot make the vessel appear to be under way.

Thank you all for your replies and apologies for my delay in replying - domestic crisis followed by 3 week cruise to Brittany.

I tried both masthead and solar light - the masthead is much brighter and so visible from much greater range in clear conditions. The solar light worked very well with the brightness of a small traditional hurricane light without the hassle of refilling etc.

Because of the difference in brightness I don't think using both together would be confused as being a steamer. The LED anchor lights sound a good idea. If in doubt be visible!
