Anchor Chain length

Re: SARCA

Given the amount of anchoring I do (negligible) I'd guess the galvanised would be fine?

Re: SARCA

The Sarca seems to have one advantage over the BugelAnker/Wasi in that if your anchor got stuck, when you ride over it, the chain would ride up to the head and act as a trip line.

Seems like a very good idea.

Re: calling martin woolwich!

Duncan, Martin, lets do some note comparing.

Met Martin tonight. He's been going through same process. He was having a Spade built, but haven't delivered as bigger than they have done to now. Now looking at Sarca, but didn't really know specs of Wasi. Few anchors are Lloyds approved, Sarca and Wasi are.

Is that a good reason to buy them? What Lloyds approval do they have? Wasi has been around for ages, and Lloyds approved for a reason? When did Sarca get Lloyds approval and why? Martin made the point that most popular anchors do not have Lloyds Approval rating. We both had a chat with PeterB about how testing was done in magazines, and how no one seems to know details of how anchors and chums or angels actually work, and tests are limited when real life brought into play.

My preference is Wasi, Martin likes Sarca for the tripping reason. I'm not sure I like the idea of an anchor that can trip itself when I can put a tripping line on and have control over when that happens!

Have to research tomorrow

Challenge issued

I've sent an e-mail to Kris at Anchor Right who are the manufacturers of the SARCA and asked them if they would like to contribute to this discussion. It will be interesting to see if we merit a response

Re: SARCA

The Sarca does away with the need for other anchors req'd in diff situations, a good peice of kit to have aboard, also a weight saving advantage over other models. IMHO
