I carry an oversize Delta and Danforth and 50mtrs of 8mm up the front, my lead chum is compact and stowed towards the rear of the boat. It helps balance things out (a little bit)

Only use one if you can easily recover it (which is not possible because the only time you need one is when its blowing a hooly)
Nightmare .... I used one in a gale, the anchor tripped and I had to get in the dinghy and try to recover it (the line had twisted around the chain and would not allow recovery of the anchor even) with my wife at the helm trying to keep us away from other yachts with 60m of chain out.
If you could guarantee your anchor won't still trip and the weight recovery line won't get looped /twisted arround your chain there may be something to be said for the theory but in practice it is not as easy, it just's adds a unwanted complication to an already bad but handle-able situation.

I've got two of these that came with Cobblers from the broads. I think they are 10kg - I've been wondering what to do with them. Now I know.
