Hi Alistair - that looks bl**dy wonderful. A good photo as well. Is it still like this at the height of summer?

North Wales is generally much quieter than the south coast, except on bank holidays when the jet-ski hoodlums arrive and compete with the "tack-across-your-bows" dinghy sailors to see who can behave in the most innane way!

Is Loch Lomond 23 miles long? That's what I had in mind. A couple of years ago I was travelling up to Ben Nevis to complete the start of the 3-peaks event and we drove for miles along the shore line road along the Loch. We were followed by a bow-rider that skimmed along at about 30mph and stayed with us for many a mile. It was a great sight.

Porthmadog shares great scenery in common with Loch Lomond - but perhaps not as dramatic or close up, as the back-drop of the Snowdonia range is a couple of miles distant from the shoreline.

Keep posting the great photos - and I'll keep nicking the odd one :) Cheers for now.

Yes, yes; wide open spaces and peace & quiet are all very well, but when do you ever get a chance to put your colregs knowledge into practice, eh? /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

urgh, looks a bit borin alistairr. Loads of empty water i mean wot is the point in that? You're biound to just end up in the same place so much better to stay in the marina. Also, your foredeck and forehatch looks a bit cockeyed, possibly cos a van has driven over it praps, so mebbe you should rip it up and have it done properly.

Loch Lomond is the largest fresh water Loch in the UK. The Loch is about 24 miles long and five miles at its widest point. and at its deepest point just outside our Marina is some 600 feet deep. On the Loch there are approximately 38 Islands, some of them inhabited and there is even a Nudest coloney and a Hotel on one, Inchmurrin.
Our marina is at the very tip, and we drive up the full length of the Loch on the West side.

Alastair,

Looks pretty unspoilt to me.

Last weekend we didn't even see a cloud down here! Have you upset somebody? It looks like that big buxxxr was getting ready to dump on you, Was it practising for your summer or just teasing a bit?

Another suntanned Southern softie,P

Looks like the Gulf of Mex last weekend on our way back from the Keys. There were no lumps in the background, however and no clouds!
