Hi,
I dont know if anyone can help, but I am stuck wiring up an ammeter to my 75hp Mercury 2 stroke outboard.
The ammeter has 3 connections. A 12v+ and 12v- that connect to the standard feed and ground. A second 12v+ feed should connect to the 'S' terminal of the altenator. This is where I lose the plot! I have a wiring fiagram for the motor, obviously no alternator so no 'S' terminal.

Has anyone else attempted this? Any pointers?

Help is much appreciated as I am rapidly running out of hair.

Dave.

Not sure about your specific installation, but simply put, the Ammeter must be put in series with the main positive feed that would normally come from the engine to the battery. i.e. you break the existing cable, and re-route it through the Ammeter and back. Thus the 12v+ and the 12v+S connections are the ones to connect into this circuit.

If you get them the wrong way round it doesn't matter, the Ammeter will just work 'backwards'.

The 12v- is an earth connection, and will usually privide illumination.
