What are the chances of MBM covering this story in all its intricate detail. Do Trader advertise in MBM ? If so, there's a conflict of interests - so it won't happen, I s'pose.
Course, they could make a gesture of a reduced rate for a full page advert. It is definitely in the interests of their readers - and could be a golden opportunity for Trader to enhance their reputation.
I have to say that, whilst not going into detail as to why at present, any hopes of Tony responding to my emails or trader responding to my list of points so we can agree a schedule of agreed work etc is fading fast.
My current guess is that they will continue to stone wall it through and even now not respond - I really hope I am wrong.
I may have missed something along the way, but all your correspondence seems to have been with the Trader dealers, Tarquin. Have you had no response from Trader themselves - this whole saga is causing them a great deal of harm.
If net worth of the business is a mere £300K have they got the money to fix Ocean Deep? Or is it a matter of they fix what they can as and when they can afford it? Is this what all the delay / stalling is really about. Just a thought Gludy, one which I expect you've already had yourself.
It is all too common today for manufacturers and dealers to abrogate responsibility for THEIR problems. When a purchaser buys a boat they are entitled to have it delivered free from ALL defects. If some are found then the responsibility is the manufacturer through the dealers THEY allow to sell their new boats. Gludy's problems demonstrate that Trader may produce excellent boats but they also produce dogs, but more importantly when it does go wrong they are found seriously wanting - such manufacturers do not deserve to stay in business. As I think few people will risk upwards of 250k on whether or not they are a lucky purchaser to get a boat without too many faults then Trader will go the way of any shoddy manufacturer and whither from lack of sales.
Thank you Gludy for the valuable lessons you are giving many -I hope you get satisfaction eventually but expect you will be in the courts trying to get money from a collapsing business.
Best of luck.
Who is the contract with, Tarquin Boat Co. ( Tony Chappel) or Trader (Chung HWA Boat Building Co ). If its Trader then they have a world wide reputation to protect; if its Tarquin then they may have assets of £300K or have asset striped their business, not a happy prospect. Have you called the CEO of Trader a Mr Lee to appraise him of what your problems are with their UK agent ?
I'm just number crunching here. Although this forum may put some pressure on Tarquin, attracting the highest rate of interest I've ever seen, still you are only reaching 1500 to 1800 reads.
Compared with SIBS visitors this year around 122000, I'm wondering how many will know of your plight.
Whilst this may cause some concern and damage to Tarquin I would not say this is significant enough for them to be concerned about your complaints to take appropriate action.
I like GC1 go more public with an open letter to MBM where the readership is much higher.
I really wish you the best and hope you get your boat sorted out soon.

1500 reads probably only amounts to about 50 to 100 people though. I've read the thread 50 times, once for each post as added, and each read adds to the count.
After 6 momths at Emsworth with them claiming all the jobs were done, I took the boat on May 13th and had an imemdiate survey that exposed many, many faults. So he played a part only at that point.
I haven't followed this thread from the start but totally sympathise with your predicament. Have you thought, however, that airing your problem in such a public forum, you are in the process of decimating the residual value of your own boat?
There are indeed many happy trader owners out there - I know one or two personally, who love their boats, and I myself would have had one happily although not so sure now. Those owners must be gnashing their teeth as this thread brings the value of their boats crashing down around their ears. Anybody wanting to sell on would be well advised to wait for a very long time. Don't get me wrong I beleieve Trader have behaved very stupidly and need taking to task in a big way, and I see the importance of this very public pressure on them, but I think it partly will backfire on you in the long term.
I have to agree with most of what you say but I have already pointed out those very points within the threads.
The facts are that it must have an effect opn the value of my boat - that is probably the biggest historic factor that protects bad service being publicised generally. The choice was wether to allow others to be unaware of my story and possibly make the same mistales that I have made or share the information so that the matter is open and everyone can make uop their own minds.
I have also stated their are happy trader owners out there ans that I know a few of them. As it happens those purchaed from Penarth- Trader Wales who is an independent dealer. I have also not hit at the boat stating a few times that if it was all fixed I would be happy.
If after 11 months of hell, with Trader not answering the faults list month after month - with even thise point that have been accepted ealy on like aft decl seating being replaced and having no sign of it - if after Trader totally ignore a survey report sent to them, you were preparing the thousands of pages of per for the Court case, you yourself may get a bit mad about the subject. It was in those circumstances I made the decision not to let them off with it and to make it public.
The Trader design offers an appealing boating solution to part of the market - I was one who like it. For that reason I did not hit out at the boat and the poll I organsied on this forum was to see if it was the boat folks were seeing as bad or the service - that poll showed that it was the service.
The public pressure has, within days of starting, resulted in the first answer to my fault list - I had been chasing that since July! The answer was not complete and even simple back and white questions were ducked but it was a start.
I will, even if I emd up paying for it all myselg get the boat fixed. I will when selling it be able to look any buyer in the eye knowing its all fine. Its a pity, that in selling a new boat to me could not do the same.
So shooting myself in the foot - yes, there is an element of that because that is the cost of exposing the truth and I fully and knowingly accept that cost.
