What are good durable alternatives to Sikaflex for doing the joints in a wooden deck?

I am horrified by the cost of buying enough Sikaflex to redo the joints in my deck.

It doesn't seem to be that easy to track down but I used to use Arbo products by adshead ratcliffe, http://www.arbo.co.uk/

They did the deck caulk on the Warrior in Portsmouth, far cheaper than Sika and the specification was better at least for the sealant adhesive 1290 I used when compared to Sika 290 or 291.

But recently they don't seem to list marine products specifically any more, may be worth a call to see what they offer though, marine megastore seem to be stocking some of their products.

I enquired for a source and received this;-
"Can I ask you to speak to our Customer Services on 01773 826661.

They'll be able to suggest stockists; we might also be able to send direct.

Good stuff and far cheaper than Sika.

Sikaflex is Sikaflex because it's Sikaflex.

Skimp and pay dearly.

Sikaflex is good but far, far too expensive and IMHO is the Stockholm tar of the modern alternatives. I've recently successfully used Sabatack 720 for bedding and caulking, not much cheaper but better shelf life. And CT1 (after much deliberation). The Sabatack behaved more like a "traditional" material and scraped off easily when cured. But the CT1 although easier to use, clearly happy with damp conditions and I suspect (time will tell) a better adhesive was a pain to clean off. Move with the times!

I used Sikaflex for one half of my teak calking in the cockpit, then Tekal for the other half. I found that Sikaflex was easier to apply and gave a better finish.

Thanks guys for your feedback. Definitely not worth skimping on.
It looks like it might be Sikaflex after all.

Any ideas where to get the best price in bulk????

TDS SIS-440 has had good reports. mentioned in dispatches by a couple of the folks on the Motor boat forum. Traditionalboats are now a Uk stockist and will discount for box amounts. Seems about half the price of sika if bought in the 600ml 'sausages'

I've been using PU40 from toolstation recently for sealing skin fittings and the like. Its much cheaper than Sika and according to the data sheet is the same stuff as Sikaflex 291. Don't know if it's the right stuff for deck caulking.

Saba products are great. I've used their bonding adhesives and find that the fact they don't go off in the tube is a major saving in itself.

Just got six tubes of the stuff shipped to Thailand via a friend. They weren't brilliant at responding to my requests to find a supplier but worth pursuing if this is what you're after. Pretty cheap too, especially when buying bulk. Don't forget to buy a larger gun as the tubes are longer than sika.
