I have dug out my spray hood from storage and it needs a clean. I don't have any professional purpose made cleaner to hand. What could I use as a good alternative that is around the house?

Often with these things the expensive stuff is just rebranded household stuff so I thought I'd ask the question.

Thanks!

depends on what the muck you're trying to remove is. In our experience, it is usually mildew and the best approach is to brush it over with Patio Magic first - let that dry and rest for a day or so, then apply a mild soap and rinse well.

Agree with Maby, dose of patio magic, then after about a week I use very dilute Washing machine detergent and a sponge. Just done mine and am surprised that the washing didn't compromise the water proofing (sunbrella). Will reapply patio magic as it is alleged that it is a persistent agent.

> Patio Magic

It doesn't mention canvas on the label.

Suitable Surfaces include : Patios, Tarmac and Asphalt driveways, Fencing, Decking, Pathways, Roofing, Painted & Glazed Pots, Garden Furniture and Ornaments, Weatherboard, Brickwork, Masonry, York Stone, Concrete, Pebbledash, Garden Sheds, Greenhouses, Conservatories, Gravestones, Gravel, PVC, Caravans, Tennis courts and other artificial play/sports surfaces.

Patio Magic is also ideal for use on delicate surfaces such as glass, rendering, mortar and plaster.

It works fine on canvas - trust me (and many others).

Used patio magic for five years on all manner of materials, if it's got mould on it the Patiomagic is deployed. No problems at all.

I was told by a decking man that he'd been told that patio magic softened sikaflex caulking, however a blob of Sikaflex in a concentrated solution for six months has not been touched...another urban myth.

Its only down side is that it is harmful to marine life so care has to be taken to avoid run off into sea.

Patio Magic is a very similar formula to Boracol - which is what both HR and X-yachts recommend for deck cleaning, so I think we can assume that it is safe (other than its effect on marine life). Personally, I prefer Boracol, but I've seen good results from both and Patio Magic is easier to buy.
