Hi,

So the boat is in St Kats for its first winter as an "INY". Bought 4 of those tubular heaters for the engine and saloon and finished the job this w/e with one of the Dry Bouy Dehumid's mentioned here couple of weeks ago.

Now the question is...do I still need to drain the thingumy bob on the engine and slacken off the wotsits?...I was stupid enuf to read the blimmin Mercruiser engine manual last night (yawn) and now I am not sure what additional stuff I should do to the engine....even though in theory the boat must feel feel like its in the Bahamas!

You are kind to your boat!!

I'm not really an I/B expert but the other thing you should do (if not done already) is to drain and replace the engine oil. The acids formed in combustion and mixed with the old oil should not be left lying around over winter.

Hasn't the season dissappeared quickly!

Assuming petrol Mercruisers. Change engine oil, fog cylinders, slacken belts, drain raw water cooling side, check A/F in closed cooling if fitted. If your Mercruisers are fitted with outdrives you will also need to change the oil and grease the U/Js and check the impellor(s). so maybe St. Kats is the wrong place to be.
