Like us, you have an encapsulated keel. One decent bash from the side and the keel cracks wide open. You'll be doing a de-compression return to the surface with yer grab bag - don't forget the epirb on the way out.

Nice to see you have the escape ladder tied to the keel. Let's hope we don't need to use it on the crossing, me old mucker!

...mind you, you'd have to bash it pretty hard. Not like these bolt-on keel jobs. Best leave the ladder, we can get one on arrival if we needs to...

There are people hereabouts who would try to arrange a rendez-vous on the way out and not even turn up 'cos their pissed in a bar somewhere.

Dunno 'bout that.

Reckon lead's so soft that it will absorb most of the force of any impact without putting any stress on the keel-bolts.
