That's it then. Boat gone. Trailers gone and so am I. Happy days, and no more hassle and bottomless expence. To all of my readers that's it, don't buy a Monterey with a Yanmar fitted.

I've got two broken power steering pump coolers, one of which brazing failed flooded engine, needing a new engine. One melted piston, four engine block liners, one oil pipe with failed brazing which meant oil loss screwed up the second engine. Only 100 hours on all of it.
If any are of use they're yours after the court case.
Sorry to confuse: Not my problems, that was an extract from one of "Avengers" previous posts!
It sounds like his experience with Yanmar engines was not a happy one, to say the least.

We have one fitted to our Montery 250 and at 11 months the power steering cooler brazing failed. The engine sump filled with water via the dip stick. Result, one knacked engine. The dealer (Southwater) fought tooth and nail and managed to get a new engine fitted under warranty. With 80 hours on the engine, the new power steering cooler brazing again failed. Fortunately this was spoted by Tonto Marine at Dartmouth, HOWEVER Barrus refused to make any offer towards replacent. OK the engine is now 3 years old but only had 80 hours on it!! Now, with 100 hours on her and whilst pottering along at 20 knots, the engine suddenly stopped and wouldn't turn over. There was evidence of oil loss in the bilge and this had appparently come from the breather. The engine eventually restarted and we limped to Brixham at 6 knots with reducing oil pressure. Darthaven Marine came out and found a 100 psi drop on number one cylinder. Out came the engine and for no obvious reason number one piston had melted down. £6000+ repair bill...
I've no experience with Yanmar so can't comment, but I do love my KAD 32, haven't heard and major disaster stories (or have I just been looking in the wrong place?)
