Alde Bubble Gas Leak Tester

I am a BSS examiner and would have one on any boat I owned, it is the only easy that an owner can test the gas system for leaks. Needs to be as close to the bottle as possible and if the boat needs a BSS then it should be in gthe gas locker.

If you are going to fit one item to improve gas safety, this is the simplest and most reliable. I completely renewed my gas system last year and included an Alde bubbler. Every time I turn the bottle on, I press the bubbler to check for leaks even though I also have an alarm. No leaks so far!

It won't check for leaks 'up stream' so as has already been said, fit it close to the bottle.

PS Fit it after the regulator not between the regulator and bottle. Sorry. My post wasn't very clear. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I've got one too - AND once found a leak with it! Excellent piece of kit but it might be worth getting a little mirror if it is in the gas bottle locker and you can't easily look "through" it.

Yes they are great.

Remember that they are made with a whole range of end fittings.

Don't just go to the nearest swindelary and buy what they happen to have in stock.

Go to somewhere like Calor at Southamton HERE and pick the the Aldi bubble tester with ends to fit what you really require rather than trying to match one to the particular pipes and fittings on your boat.
