Aegean Fence

Warning shot was not aimed at any humans!!; lets no go wild with imagination. Greece has over 3 million migrants, arrived in the last 4 years, to deal with and so far has no complaint about it despite being a country of 10 million population and a fraction of the land size of Turkey. Migrants should be taken back by ships to their country of origin (although, most lie where they come from so to receive refugee status). They are part of the problem. The genuine refugees are a very small minority of people. I wonder how many Brits will be going sailing in the Aegean this summer.

There no doubt shots was fired , there also no doubt the speed the CG boat was meant to course problem to them in the inflatable,
This isnt the way you would expect a civizlise human to behave especially CG ,
the CG was at not time in danger from these people ,
What ever the argument are, they could had easily took them in tow back to Turkey waters .
What would they done if the dinghy over turn , pick them up or just let them all drown. I would hate to think.
As far as there wasn't taken shots at them , it's only the other day the Greek took shots with live amro shotting one in the neck.

As I said in an earlier post I have great sympathy for the situation in which Greece finds itself especially the islands. I'm very surprised at the figure of 3 million migrants arrived in Greece in the last 4 years - would you mind posting a link for your source. I'm even more surprised at your statement that only a small minority are genuine refugees - surely no one can doubt that all Syrians are genuine refugees.

In mainland Greece, the genuine Syrian refugees are given the support they deserve by taking their children to school by bus daily, giving them houses free of charge, jobs and monthly income (i think about £500). Naturally, the Greek children have to walk to school and pay for their houses. Also, when refugees take over an empty house as squatters, (regular issue) you can not get them out because the law protects them, unlike the locals. Regarding the link about the number of migrants, do a google search; it will help if you can read Greek. The whole thing is a big mess and it is getting worse, they will be better off staying in their country or at least stay in a country of a similar culture. The West should support them to return them back to Pakistan, Bangladesh, Syria, Iran etc. How many people will be returning to the Aegean Islands for holidays now?

I can't read Greek, unfortunately, and I can't find anything on the internet which would support the figure quoted by you of 3 million in the last 4 years so on that basis I'm going to assume you're mistaken. Refugees are a burden on any community where they land and, as far as the EU is concerned, Greece is definitely shouldering a disproportionate share of that burden. We all wish there were no refugees or indeed that they would go elsewhere other than our place but that's not how things work in this world of ours and we need to accept that and deal with the consequences. Demonising these unfortunate people or visiting intimidation and violence on them is shameful. I will definitely be visiting some of the islands this summer as well as spending a few weeks cruising the Turkish coast.

I suspect this exodus of "refugees" from the Middle East, most with the UK as their ultimate destination, is the reason our government was so pliable in us leaving the EU. So I thank them..

Perhaps we could ask Russia why they do not appear to have taken many of these so called "refugees". They are, after all, major players in the war in Syria. They would be pretty good at filtering out any "undesirables". Come to that China has a fair old bit of spare land & they have "classes" for those who need to learn "loyalty" to the ruler. I am sure the west could donate a few tents if the Chinese would take them.

What’s he saying? “Greece, let them in, they just want to go to Germany and the UK. They won’t stay, so just open the gates”. What miserable, manipulative, mischievous cynicism. The Greeks are not so naive luckily.
RTE was addressing a domestic audience and, like all politicians, telling the people what they want to hear. Ironically your penultimate sentence - "What miserable, manipulative, mischievous cynicism" - very accurately describes the EU hierarchy's attitude towards Greece and so far it seems the Greeks are far more naive than you think.
