They certainly are fabulous boats, and extremely rare...

...but very keen though I am, I think we've established that Froggie would a-wetting get... ;)

...so no need in this instance, for a yacht that is built around its fabulous wheelhouse.

Heaven knows, there are few enough motor-sailers out there, for us, who want them! No point anyone else picking one up.

Dan, the picture is of a Fisher 37. The 46 is a different beast and has a smallish aftish raised cockpit along with a wheelhouse that is twice the size of that one above.

Hi Mr Froggie. The first few sentences of your post would concern me. I am 76, fit and (AFAIK) healthy but seriously thinking of going in the other direction. A monohull sailing boat requires a great deal more participation and movement than a MOBO and you have to do that when they are leaning not just when they are flat. Mechanise as much as you can with powered winches and hydraulic furling but you will still need to be much more active than you have to be on a MOBO.

If you are determined to go in that direction then I suggest you give serious consideration to a catamaran. Either way, try before buying and I dont mean just a test sail. Charter for a couple of weeks
