Advice required for leisure batteries (gel?) and charging options....

........and advice gladly taken on board! Generally looking for advice as am planning to put solar panels on roof to either charge the engine batteries and leisure, or just the engine batteries; therefore relying on the 240v hookup to charge the leisure ones. Been out of boating for a while so open to suggestions!

I dont think you will find much enthusiasm for solar panels as a means to charge batteries in the UK.

We dont have year round sun, but we do have lots of wind and it might be worth looking at wind generators if you dont have shore power , if you visit your boat on a regular basis this is your best option

Stick to plain old lead acid leisure batteries.

Unless you fit big, expensive solar panels, you'll never charge the batteries.

Fit a good 240v charger to look after all the batteries. Look at the Sterling chargers.
