The actual engines are twin Volvo AQ151 140 petrol engines.

I had a new boat in 1975 with twin AQ 151 140 petrol engines. It was that boat which made me move to Diesels.
Went from Holyhead to Dun Leary and used 60 gallons of petrol. (OK it took 3 hours at 20 knots +) But when in 1975 I bought the boat Petrol was 3 gallons for a pound. Red Diesel was 5p a litre.

Ouch… that’s thirsty… What boat?
I run twin AQ171C’s in my 27 foot sports cruiser and I recently did a short 40 mile cruise and used 15 gallons. I have fitted a fuel flow meter to keep an eye on fuel burn.
Speeds were variable including No Wash speed through moorings, hull speed in 8 knot limit, up to 20/22 knots cruise.
Works out at just over 2.5 MPG.
Sure if I open up against the stops it will use up to 14 gallons an hour, but that is still over 2.0 mpg.
Against the tide on the way out and back with the tide.
Weight of boat around 3.5 tons, so comparable to the Sealine.
Forecourt prices of petrol are now cheaper than diesel… sure there are other considerations like safety and availability.
The only thing with elderly petrol’s is the constant battle with maintenance. Making sure there is no water drips from the seawater pumps or the cooling etc and integrity of the fuel connections.

Are you sure? AQ151 wasn't launched until 1985.
