Hi, I've just purchased a 25 year old motor cruiser and am looking to fit a shower toilet combo, any advice or tips from anyone who has done something similar ?

Hi and welcome

There is lots of experience on here of doing this sort of thing but to answer such a short post we'd have to type "well if you mean this then do that, but if you mean that then do this" and so on. You have given us too little information for such a potentially big question. It would be great if you typed a full description of the project and the constraints etc

I'm afraid jfm is correct, too hard to contribute without (much) more details.
But welcome to the asylum anyway. :)
Oh, and FYI, after mentioning a 25yo boat (possibly a timber one?), you're creating expectations for a LOT of pics!

Maybe I was a little to vague, I will try and explain a little more, but am new to boating and don't have much of a clue as to what is viable and what is not.

The boat currently has a porta potti onboard, I want to install something more permanent onboard. An area had already been designated by the previous owner as the toilet/bathroom, I will have to get the measurements next time I am down at the boat. Currently there is running water from a 50l water tank in the kitchen, which I am assuming I will have to upgrade to something larger, to run both the toilet and the shower. There is no grey water waste tank at the moment but the boat has 2 x 150l fuel tanks, which I was thinking of swapping one for a grey waste tank. I have been looking down the caravan supplies route and have come across the Thetford C200 cassette toilet, which slots nicely into a purpose built shower base, I was going to either use Formica or vinyl flooring for the walls of the shower as I like the thought of using a continuous piece of lining as opposed to potentially having leaking seals. Will a standard electric shower suffice ? Not sure if I have hit the nail on the head with my findings or missed the mark completely, any help, advice or experience is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You don't really need a grey waste tank for most locations, where grey water can usually pump to the river, lake or canal. Different for black (toilet) waste, which should only be discharged to sea, so a black tank is necessary unless you use a porta-potti as you describe. If you want a shower, you will need a calorifier (water tank/heater) and heat off the engine coolant or from an immersion. If you go down the immersion route, then you will need shorepower for the 240v supply. If you can do all of this, then you will need a way of gathering the shower water and pumping out. You will need a sealed shower cubicle, or your bilge is going to get wet and very smelly. Not an easy task, but doable if you have the right skills, patience and space on board.
