Your Bav from 1997 is when they made very good boats. But a few years later they got the 'value' bug and the quality dropped - but before then they, as you say, were often better than any rivals.

Their recent poorer boats have damaged the name.

I would also agree about the speed, since your Bav had the same designer as Grand Soleil at the time...

You are spot on MGM_Greg. My boat is well built (One German surveyor asked me "Is this a Swan? ... 100% true so do not laugh...) and one of the last of its line.. apparently only 13 built like mine. She will outsail most ...even with in mast furling main sail and it is Lloyds 100 rated too.

The original sales invoice was 599000 DM's... quite a lot of money by todays price lists!!!! I doubt an equiv Ben/Jen/Bav of this year will break much over 200K Euros = 400K DM's..... except for those new fangled models with large windows
