Advice for a newbie on a bigger boat. Regal, Sealine, Bayliner or..

As before, im off to Burton Waters to chat with a salesman next week and have a look round a few boats. Ive got a feeling im not going to get the space im after on anything trailer sized so while im there im going to have a chat about moorings and look at some bigger stuff

If you see Jonathan or Edward give them my regards. They sold my S37 a month or so back and I found the whole experience stress free.
Interesting point you make about space and trailering. I think for most of us (not all!) trailering is a phase in boat size progression so what you’re doing is skipping a step.
Happy hunting!

I think trailering is a great step in seeing where you may like to boat. We trailed starting with Windermere all south coast as far south as Falmouth all of Wales then the Italian lakes then the med and finally the Caledonian Canal . Now a marina as I think it’s a young mans game . But good luck what you choose.

ive been trying to convince myself im being daft looking at 'bigger' and your not helping :ROFLMAO:. I've been obsessing over boats a while but didnt have the piggy bank full to do much other then window shop and trawl through forums and sales adverts & naturally what i want seems to change every few days.

Now you want a Trawler.

trailering makes sense for me, i have shed space to store a boat and a vehicle to pull 3.5t. The only problem is the 3 kids, 3 up on the forward double berth and the aft double under the cockpit for me & the wife sorts out the sleeping but not sure how long it would be during the day before someone snaps & starts throwing people overboard. In all honesty i dont know what i want except for bigger then what ive currently got 🤔. never ceases to amaze me how big my 17' looks on the trailer & how it shrinks when it hits the water

It's a F33 which was previously called the 330 Statesman. It was new in April 2003 so one of the last . The F34 was introduced later that same year .
Lovely. All the more so, given her rarity. Can’t think I’ve seen more than a couple of them in the flesh. All the best.

……and by coincidence Burton Waters have a F33
If you could negotiate a 10K reduction, a good buy on the face of it.
(Sorry @adhdan I‘m ignoring your budget)
Maybe a bit underpowered though with KAD32’s but depends on your cruising ground.

Just a tad out :D. She'd never make it through the gloryhole anyway. Sods law the Nimbus i like the look of is 5 hours away

I had a 16' Sea Ray on a trailer for 14 years. Being a small speedboat it was in the "fast toy" class and good fun as such.
I've also had a 21' on a trailer. In pictures it had everything (front cabin, centre cabin, heads, pantry, sunbed etc.) but logically everything has to be compressed and so small that 2+2 people of average size can't fit.

Now it's a 30' twin diesel on shafts. It feels big enough on the water and ample when it's on the hard in the winter and I'm walking around it planning spring preparations.

so im off to view this Nimbus 3003 Aft Cabin For Sale, 9.30m, 1990 on tuesday, feeling quite happy with the look of it from the photos & videos. What do you think
Nice to go viewing boats.

From a boat that is 33 years old, I would expect little and hope to be pleasantly surprised.
The GRP will probably be fine, the electrics, instruments, engine and gearbox will depend on the TLC it has had.

The interior may or may not be good, but the original quality was high, so it may have held up well.

Good luck, let's hear more. And we want photos 📸.

BTW, I have a Nimbus 3003. Performance wise, top speed about 22 knots and cruise 15-18 ish. I don't really notice much difference in performance with extra weight of full tanks.
When based on the Isle of Wight, we took ours to Guernsey, Cherbourg and Cornwall. Spending 2-3 weeks onboard was comfortable with the 2 of us.

thanks for the reply, when you say cosmetically what do you mean? just in general with 3003's or with that one in particular?

Good to here about the new box, failed to mention that in the sales advert. Since you own one, can i ask what problems or niggles you have with it, im sure there must be some :D

Whats it like on fuel & noise

My cosmetic comment was based on it's age and being the time of year when boats get mucky. Expect it will require a clean but they're well built and will look nice with little effort.
Noise wise, any boat this size and inboard diesel is going to be intrusive but they're a straight 6 engine so run fairly smoothly.
Fuel use, cruising speed I plan for 2litres a mile. At river speeds this will be much better.

ahh ok, the salesman said as much on the phone that its on the dry and will be a bit grufty on the outside. The interior is the big one, i dont need it to be flashy as long as its solid and tidy, if its had water coming in and trims & linings falling off id be driving back fairly sharpish. The pictures look good so fingers crossed. besides...anything too smart wouldnt last 5 minutes with my kids before something expensive happened

I gave ours a bit of tlc a couple of years ago and did a brief write up about it here.. Nimbus spruce up

There's a Nimbus 3003 Facebook group, mainly Swedish but I always chat in English. A friendly knowledgeable bunch, well worth joining but you have to request to join.
Nice work. did it all go back together ok? & more importantly do you still have an aft sink? seems like a nice place for a whiskey cabinet if you ask me

How long are the beds? are they adult sized in length or is it a bend the knees job?

Yes we still have the aft sink, I must have used it at least twice 😅. The beds are full length. The side cabin is a wide single, the pointy bit is a double and the aft is a small double.
Thanks. was hard to judge the length in the pictures or how far it tucks under (cue joke)
