I prefer the Admiralty charts myself, partly because thats what I learnt to use from the first but also prefer the colours and the type of paper. Personally I find the Imray paper not so good for plotting on.
If you have a PC you can download the Admiralty chart catalogue to help you decide what charts you might need.

You can buy complete set of charts on a CD for whole of UK for £30 which is a bargain or download for £25 for PC or tablet. I find it very good
