Admiralty Leisure Electronic Chart plotter Edition 5 Help required

I have the above software and contacted Customer Services at Admiralty Leisure who advise as it is over a year old and they stopped supporting it in December. I have a few questions I wondered if anybody on here could answer.

1. Can I get AIS information to display? (I have a NASA AIS engine that works fine on OpenCPN 2.5 also on SeaClear)

2. Can I get tide updates from another source and put them in?

3. Can I get the charts to load in either OpenCPN 2.5 also on SeaClear? I think the charts have a .CHI suffix but cannot find any information on opening or converting this type of file.

4. Can I make a copy of the charts as back up? In case the disk gets damaged and you need the CD to run the charts. It does not seem to copy to my hard drive and run from there. And a straight disk copy to CD does not work either.

Any help would be appreciated

From what I recall of that package, I don't think you can do ANY of the things you suggest.

If you are already happy with SeaClear I suggest you have a look at

As with the old UKHO offering, the CD/DVD has to be in the drive at all times (for copyright protection reasons); but they do also do a version on USB stick which now only needs to be plugged in when you actually start up the program.

Heartily recommend the above and the latest DVD version (which I happen to be using right now!) is the same as the USB stick in that the DVD only has to be in the drive at program start up

Then you are not using the right software to copy it. You need a CD clone program.
