Sorry for the non-boatyness of this but I have had such great guidance over the years from this forum with advice for my boat that I know the knowledge is out there.
During the cold spell at the beginning of the year my conservatory door handle snapped. I have searched long and hard for a replacement and eventually found one. The two sides of the handle are held together by 2 M5 machine screws and one works perfectly. However, the other screwhole passes through a smaller hole in the middle of the door that will only take the previous machine screw - which is around 3mm.
My question is, is it possible to get a convertor or adapter that will capture the smaller machine screw? I don't want to drill out the smaller hole in the middle of the door.
Thanks in advance.

I'm struggling to visualize your problem.
However, if you want a captured thread then a "Rivnut" may do the job.
It's like a threaded nut which you pop rivet into place. Google will throw up 1001 sites for you.
