I have a Naval AAD 05 fitted but I have broken the antenna connected to it, on the box the connection asks for a antenna ARA 05, what is this? what do I need to replace with. The divider splits to the navtex and the fm radio, (there are other connections I dont use). Can I replace the antenna with a small vhf antenna?

Antenna

It looks like no one else is going to answer so here goes.
Much depends on the old antenna. if it was a solid ss rod then no problem.
If it was a fibreglass tube with bits inside were they an active amplifier or just coil and capacitor.
If just coil and capacitor then yes any VHF antenna will do. Or you could make your own out of 17inches of rod connected to the inside of the cable the outer being connected to a ground plane or larged earthed rea nearby. good luck olewill
