You consistently print an advert for a Sealine boat broker that shows a small (sub 30ft) Sealine sporting a semi naked lady on the bow and a jet ski running at high speed and very close with both parties (and helmsman of boat) waving.

Whilst I do not object to to the photo per say, I perceive that you could be considered to condone this type of very poor boat handling and scant disregard to safety in respect of the boat and the jet ski.

I believe that you do have a say in what you publish and perhaps someone should look to request an alternate photo of the boat.

I am not a kill joy, we drive a 32ft Tullio Abbatte that will achieve a top speed of 55knts. ( sea conditions etc permitting ) but I have never allowed anyone to sit on the foredeck of any of my boats (previous Pershing 45 and Ferretti 53) whilst travelling above displacement speed, we boat in Mallorca and out of no where we have encountered 1.5 meter waves without any warning and without any other boat in site.

Please, before there is a fatality be aware that the idea of lounging on the foredeck whilst underway at any speed even on idyllic days should be considered as extremely dangerous.

I think this is the pic you are refering too.

Looks to me that neither party is waving, But i do echo your thoughts about having someone on the bow at those sort of speeds.

It is purely a promotional pic from Sealine, and i don't think MBM or MB&Y should be questioned for printing it in the Sealines Adverts.

All IMHO.

I guess most of you have seen the Fosters adverts where the guy gets his head bitten of by a Croc and/or a Pelican..... Well remember Dont stick your head in an animals mouth - Its an Accident waiting to happen /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

No, it's one of the older Sealines with the "Foredeck Toilet" option. PWC's an urgent paper delivery from Tesco

Not quite as bad as it looks....if you brighten the image up a bit you can see that both parties are in fact holding on to boat structure and there is a third body at the helm.

Do agree about the foredeck eyecandy tho and also the PWC playing that close.

Firstly welcome to the forum. Right the photo....umm, Its an ad! Theres an ad on the box where a dog is at the controls of a car, but would you let your dog drive your car! Theres an ad with a Cherokee jeep thing driving off road, likewise when was the last time you saw one drive off road.
Theres ads for cars exceeding the speed limit............where the hell do you want to stop.
Theres a thing called COMMON SENSE. People use it now and then. If they don't then the Darwin effect will take over and they'll all soon be extinct. I don't think the gene pool will suffer!...........Just my two pennath' worth.

A sealine that does have something firm to hold on to then./forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

...the brochures and ads are all airbrushed anyway. The S23 in the current brochure has the people from an old F33 picture added (which is why their arms look all wrong). The lady supposedly on the bow was probably on her patio, else why is she not gripping the wipers with both hands ? The jetskier was probably going round in circles 180 miles away.

Most people know that these photos are just a composite of some sort of fantasy to read in the bath. It's an ad, not yachtmaster training material.

Not sure I should mention this, but I've had people sitting on the bow at slow planing speeds before. They get a warning to hang on with both hands to the railings, it's in flat water only, and do waves really come out of nowhere (underwater explosions ?), or do they head towards you at the speed that waves normally head towards you ? Is it really that much more dangerous than sitting in the bow of a much smaller bow rider at speed ?

haven't lost anyone yet...

Ooh! can come and generate freak wave...for a fee

all a bit pc madness gone overboard (sorry!) if you ask me. I'd suggest it's a troll, but would get slapped wrists by Kim if I did.

Don't think it is a troll...we got sent the same thing by e-mail.

The party line is that we don't condone unsafe practice such as this, but we believe our readers are smart enough to know that this is an advert and thus to be taken with a hefty pinch of salt. You'll also notice two girls on the foredeck of a Targa 52 on the inside front cover, the PLA harbourmaster on the foredeck of his launch without a lifejacket, and a bloke driving a RIB solo without the kill-cord.

Oh I'd say don't get so upset about an advertisement, and settle down for the afternoon with a drink and a good spelling dictionary, you'll be all the better for it.
