Hello all,
I am writing this here to see if anybody can help me to sove this. Last August we bought a SouthPacific windlass to SeaTeach. One month later the gypsy was already covered in rust, something really weird as they claim it to be stainless steel. Yet, even if it was cast bronce it should not get rusted.

We wrote them an email with copy of the invoice to claim for the guarantee and get a replacement for the gipsy, not the whole windlass, as we are happy with it.

A chap answered to us and said that they were going to replace it for sure, that it had to be a wrong batch or something like that. Well, after six months of mails asking for that replacement it is still not here, and the worst thing is that they don´t even answer to our mails anymore.

If this is the service SeaTeach provides to its customers, it is really poor and not worthy to put our money in their hands.

Anybody with similar experiences with them o that can help me to solve this?

Thanks a lot.

Emails I am finding are not always that direct as as a business they must get snowed under with junk mail and ordinary stuff....best to phone. My contact with them shows them to be a user friendly company.

Generally people report good service.

When working on my boat they are nearby so often pop in for stuff. Always had good and very helpful service over a good few years.

There have been some grumps in the past about them though ... but not for quite some time.

I've only used them once for spares for my furler. They were very helpful and knowledgable.

Couldn't fault them, really. Mind you, that was 4 or 5 years ago, so perhaps they're different now

It must depend on who you deal with - they tried to overcharge me £30 on a £230 item and I had the devil's own job to get out of the shop without being swindled ... had to put up with what was almost a pantomime performance between the salesman and the bloke in the office he had to keep consulting, then pretended he couldn't find it on their own on-line catalogue ... in the end I found it for him! ... and, no, they didn't have special on-line prices before someone suggests it ... I haven't been back since and use Marine Superstore at Port Solent these days ... at least they're honest!

No excuse for businesses not answering e mails (particularly if they advertise an e mail address). I would guess significantly more business is done these days by e mail than phone.

If my wife spent her time reading all the emails she gets there would be no work done.
