A Thanks...

We had a good sail with TB89 from Portishead up to between the Severn Bridges and back. It was the first time for us up there and it was a very interesting place to sail. It is uncanny how those leading lights near St Pierre Pill glow - especially with Oldbury Power Station in the background. Despite whiling away some time picking up the mooring buoys outside Portishead marina, waiting for the tide to slacken, the tide was still too strong to circumnavigate Denny Island. One day...

If anyone else is planning on going sailing with TB89, then go for it: he's a great guy to have in your crew. Having said that, I hope you'll be coming sailing with us again Robin!

I still don't believe NP258: it says that the tide is about 0.5 knots at springs above Avonmouth at HW+1 and it was more like 3knots (which is a good job as it got us back before the lock closed for the low water window!).
