that particular one was all my own work...
Oops then sorry Jimmy I failed to credit you above. Yup, Corsica is one very photogenic place. I'm planning to be back in exactly the spot where that tender-on-beach pic was taken, in 2 weeks time.

Henry's right, it's nice to see cruise reports being posted again. Looking forward to several more

Lovely photos ! We have exactly the 'same' photo of Calvi port from the citadel but with 60 Degrees in the centre!

Targa50is going to write our trip report ... hasnt been done yet thou, shes still grinning from our crossing and Corsica!

Strangely we also saw what may have been the same whales on the way out .... biggest I've ever seen by far although I didnt have the gonads to 'play' with them as Jimmy did! I thought 100m was close enough thank you --- they seemed that big to me although we thought one might have been smaller.

SWMBO had never seen Dolphins or Whales before so she hit the jackpot -- although sadly no turtles.

Given we saw them within 50 miles ( my estimate) of Jimmy's sighting and 4 days apart could well have been the same given there are allegedly only 900 in the Med

been. :)

Out of curiosity, what sort of water temperature did you have during your trip?
Here in southern sardinia, the water is still around 20/21 degrees, which might be not bad by UK standards but is actually bloody cold here, at this time of the year.
Global warming my @rse... Aaarumph!

Same in the Adriatic. Normally I am swimming by early June but the water temp was 'only' 22-23degC 2 weeks ago and it felt colder. Also the air temperature was a few degrees colder than normal too. You really needed a sweater to dine out in the evenings. I'm thinking of asking for my money back

Great Pics, Jimmy and also thanks to jfm for his photos too. Those whales were fantastic. I've been in the Med 10yrs and I've never heard anyone mention that they've seen whales. You were very fortunate. This kind of spur of the moment cruise often works out better than a pre planned one because you haven't had time to build up any expectations. Good call

To be fair Jimmy was quoting Riviera Radio, a well known branch of the local tourist industry!

Right now it is 19.8 degrees on the boat in Port Vauban -- and our sensor seems pretty accurate. More importantly still a chill in the water and still 4 or 5 degrees below where we would expect.

Thanks EME/Deleted User, you made me feel better.
Also because in the meantime we already gained a couple of degrees in sea water.
Roll on, southern winds!

PS: 20 degrees inside the marina seems indeed VERY cold. I was speaking of open sea temp in earlier posts.
Inside ports, or also other sheltered areas, the water is normally 2 or 3, if not 4 degrees warmer...

I'm doubting your transducer EME. I think mine, 25metres from your right now, from the same catalogue and no doubt made by the same contract manufacturer in China, is reading about 24 in the port! I'll check sunday...

Lol Well one of us has a dodgy boat, I wonder which ??? ! No way is the water up to temp yet though. This is fact due to eme immersed shrinking bits on weds!

That would be with your underwater lights on surely :)

Again beautiful pics Jimmy and a very interesting report. Cruising there seems indeed fabulous, although we are a bit ahead of you with regards the water temps ;)

Thank you for posting, these cruise reports make for very interesting reading.
