A friend has bought a sailing dinghy, and nobody knows what class it is.

It is just over 13 feet long and the beam is about 6 feet. It looks rather fast, and has "wings" like a Moth, but it is too big to be a Moth.

The hull and decks are made of GRP, but the rudder, centreboard and transom are made of wood. There are flaps in the transon for drainage. The deck is a sort of egg shell light blue - the sort of horrible colour that was popular about 25 years ago.

There is only a single mainsail, which has a 3 digit sail number, which indicates to me that this must be a class that was reasonably well established. In addition to the sail number, there is only a big "H" on the sail.

There is no makers plate. Does anybody know what class this is?

Re: A sailing dinghy with an \"H\"

Th "H" could imply that it was a Dutch boat rather than the Class itself.... Not terribly likely with a dinghy, but possible.

I though this - but the logo for a Hornet is, well, the outline of a Hornet...

Re: A sailing dinghy with an \"H\"

There was a dinghy produced years ago 70's / 80's I think Bit like a wide solo fibreglass (I think) single hander with single sail called a Harrier which had a large Capital H on the sail, don't think there were too many produced or when they stopped being made but it sounds like one of those.

If you can find an old dinghy guide the one that shows all the classes and details from the 70's it was listed in there.
