A Lot Of Boat For Your Bucks

Well I'm sure Mrs Lakesailor won't mind another one in your garden

I once in my yoof went over to France on an ex MFV like that with a Gardner engine mounted 'up front'. You could walk up to the dry exhaust and attempt to light a ciggy on the pipe. lovely engine, lovely old boat, though we got some funny looks parked up in Cherbourg amongst the gleaming yachts..

Right, £350 selling price, £900 berthing fee & £5,000 surety that is removed within 6 months (by the middle of May that is). Could be a jolly expensive proposition methinks - before craning her out, replacing the planking, completely rebuilding the engine & rewiring her.

Other then that - no problem.

Maybe me and Lakey went to the same school of cheapskate knowledge but, tow this around to Skipool creek, berth it on the mud for a fiver a week and restore it! If you cant get more than the asking price back for the Gardner then summat is wrong! With a little (read lot) of TLC, this could be a seriously cheap all weather liveaboard.

Yup! After totally refastening--trust me,she'll need it --complete recaulking---.

How'd you do that in a mud berth.

Then there 's the complete rebuild of the Gardner--digging out the concrete and cast-iron ballast that is now concealing the rot!

Do me a favour!!

You give up before you are beat! me, I have to be beat before I give up:)

Maybe, but I worked (seine-netting) on these boats, and I know their weaknesses. I learned to caulk decks on them.

One point that I noticed ---builder's name was given as ALEXANDER of BUCKIE.

I've never heard of a buider of that name.

Could be Alexander Noble of Girvan and maybe registered in Buckie. Lots of Alexanders in Scotland, and lots of well respected yards.

You'll be delighted to know we are not the only ones to suffer with forums on the blink.
I was floating about the Pajero/Shogun forum the other day and someone was complaining that there was no Edit facility again!
