It has been on a pilgrimage to its birthplace, from Colchester, South of the River (Stour).

There are twelve metres, there is “Duet” the Trust Fund Babe, there is “Sunstone”, there are many more and for the moment there’s this!

Even with something this old it seems the most important descriptive detail is the colour of it's wheels!

I wondered that, too! Mind, if it was at Hall's, I'd probably assume they'd just brought it out of the shed to haul a boat up the slip. I reckon some of their gear was doing duty in the same era that the traction engine was built.

From the timd when we actually mqnufactures stuff i have seen s a generator mafe by revell of ipswich. It was aboard ths ss robert stephdnson at oostende voor anchor anout 3 yrs ago. As was its ateam engine built in lowestoft . Plus an 8 cylindsr gardener fully rebuilt to original spec. Both engines coupled to same drive train.

Have any of you seen the prices attached to some of these wonderful machines?
£300k-£500k seems to be the going rate along with a few POA's...

I imagine that showmen's engines fetch a lot more than ordinary traction engines, but this 1930s example (one of only four built by Fowler) fetched over £900k in 2020: Steam engine bought for £50 sells for more than £900k - BBC News. (Well, yes it was bought for £50 - in 1950, and had had a two and a half year restoration in the 90s.)

I went to a vehicle auction in ELy several years ago (2007?) and a pile of rust that had been a traction engine... It sold, as I recall for about £100,000...
