A heads up about CO detectors

The moral of the story? If your CO detector goes off and the internal batteries are ok, then a check of the main boat batteries might be in order!
Always a good idea to check around if the alarm goes off, but I think an alternative moral could be that two events taking place at around the same time are not necessarily related.
To me, 'an occasional ping' sounds more in line with the normal behavior of a CO detector coming to the end of its life, rather than an actual alarm from gassing batteries. But you do not say whether the detector was that old, perhaps it is unknown to you?

Funny ... it reminds me of an annoying factor often seen ....

Number of times gone into a shop and heard the BEEP ....... BEEP ..... every minute or so .... (OK - usually Smoke Detectors)

Gave up suggesting to assistants that maybe battery needs changing - after being told : Its just telling you the Detector is working !
