A fun trip on a Sealine 410 - Lymington to Swansea

Formula / Thunderbird Boats :encouragement:

:p Well I got one see, got to stick up for it :disgust:

you cant really put sea ray and chris craft on the same level. Chris craft are in an entirely different league to pretty much the rest of the american sports boats.

Sea ray are slightly better than a lot of the rest of the american sports boat brands, but these days they're not hugely better, they're just better known in the UK. Not sure whether sea ray have got worse or the other builders got better.

I'd regard cobalt and regal as much higher quality than sea ray as well.

Nothing wrong with Bayliners, amazing value for money, and do the job well. The fixtures and fittings can be a bit on the cheap feeling side, but where it counts (ie hull) they're as good as (for example) a sea ray

(ex owner of sea ray x 2, regal x 1 amongst other non american sports boats)

I never had those issues with my sealines, and I have been out in worse since.
The worst boat I've had for bits dropping off it was a Targa 48 although a Sealine 305 ran it close but my 410 was one of the best. Another thing I liked it about was that the TAMD63P engines and the hull seemed made for each other

Just great to see the new owner's ear to ear grin, almost held back at times as he sits back at 'his' throttles.

Looks like it as a cracking trip, with no issues, what a great confidence builder in a new boat.

If you read this best of luck and happy cruising in your new boat.

The Sealine versus Fairline versus Princess debate is old and hackneyed and had been done to death on here over the past two decades. Not even Sealine owners claim they are the world's best built boats and you're within your rights to start a new thread to discuss it if you like. Despite being a bit if a Fairline fan, I won't be joining in as I've long ago realised that all boats can be fun and Sealine's have other qualities such as space, practicality, value etc. A visit to the Sealine forum will give you some feel for the loyal following they have.

But this thread is about a successful delivery trip and an excited owner. To denigrate that is poor form. If you can't see that then perhaps this forum isn't the place for you.

Very well said

Sorry I didn't realise we were all here to pat each other on the backs. If random approval from someone on the internet is something you seek then I feel for you.

There is a time and a place....

As a first trip on a new boat it was a fairly substantial one and the fact everyone arrived in one piece says something.

I haven't ever owned a Sealine and, like others I wouldn't offer them up as a rival to the very best out there, but they get a lot of people out on the water and they get used more than many others. There are posters on here who embarrass the rest of us with the regularity they are on board making full use. I can think of a couple who I see virtually every time I'm out.

We have a pretty healthy debate on here but for the most part it's done in a civilised manner. I don't have a particularly strong censorship filter and occasionally say things I shouldn't but this was an easy one to call.

If you want to re-visit a topic that was done to death 20 years ago fill your boots, but start another thread don't spoil what should be a joyous moment.

Compared to my child everyone else's babies are hideous but I learnt a long time ago it is better to seek out the positive, "he'll have excellent hearing with those ears", or say nothing......

I won't embarrass you by asking to see your baby photos :)

Henry :)

Henry :)

When I was a baby apparently the doctor told my moither to club me over the head with a rubber hammer. Now that says something !

I think we should all just be very pleased for the chap who has bought this boat and not spoil his enjoyment. I for one greatly enjoyed the video and having just returned from Hospital after an operation It cheered me up so many thanks for that and enjoy your boat and thanks for shareing

I got her for a great price, certainly didn't pay over the odds for this lovely vessel, and then to get commercial rate fuel for the trip was an added bonus.

Well said and many thanks. I'm over the moon with her. And it was a great way to see what the boat can do on a passage like that. Pete from Halcyon was very professional and great company, with a good sense of humour which helps in the boating world sometimes. And at the end of the day, the price paid for the boat is what you think it's worth for the pleasure you, family and friends will get from it. Hopefully priceless memories. Great boat, and with better sea keeping qualities than I'd imagined.

Hi Henry, yes she's been well looked after by the previous owner. And it was one of the most rewarding things I'd done to undertake an assisted sea delivery with Pete from Halcyon. And you're right I got one of his trademark professionally produced videos as a bonus memento.

Many thanks, yes, the sea trial before purchase is one thing but for me to experience 19 hours motoring on her with a few challenging conditions around the lizard was a great confidence builder. Beats waiting for your boat to be road delivered, minus Bomber mast, props and with lifts out and in either end. I'd recommend a delivery skipper for an assisted delivery every time.

Many thanks, I'm the new owner and that was a thoughtful post. I'm very happy with her and for the price I paid for her. I disregarded the previous guys post anyway, but thanks for responding to him the way you did. Cheers! Happy Safe boating.

Did you mean this one, Jez?

I, too, enjoyed this photo. Especially as she is my boat now and I am crossing the channel in her soon!
