A fun trip on a Sealine 410 - Lymington to Swansea

I seatrialed a few S23s and S28s a while ago on the Solent - neither model faired well so I didn't buy one. I bought a Nimbus Nova 26 instead at the time. I've also been on a customer delivery of a used T52 in an F4/F5 back across the channel which shouldn't have been a problem but it's not something I'd do again in a hurry. The owner had to replace two LCD TVs, various internal fixtures broke, the lazarette flooded and the generator broke it's mountings. OK I don't expect the boat to be built like a Fleming or Grand Banks but it fell well below par of the equivalent Princess or Fairline.

That's all very exciting for you, but that still doesn't make it ok to rubbish the man's new boat on this thread. You're out of order and no amount of pompous rationalising justifies such crass behaviour.

The skipper has been delivering boats for 20 years - runs an RYA Training Company and is a much better helm than myself. The boat couldn't handle the conditions - simple as that. Maybe that's not an issue for most people pottering about along the coast but given the OP claims Sealine has excellent sea-keeping I'd like to offer an alternative scenario for balance.

Sorry but I speak my mind - it's just an opinion and you're free to disagree - in fact I expect it as we're from all walks of life with different expectations and aspirations.

I'm sorry but it's the equivalent of someone looking into a pram and calling the baby ugly: poor form. Or course you are entitled to your opinion but as others have said, these new boat or boat delivery posts generally exist in the realms of congratulatory hyperbole, not negative criticism.

Sorry I didn't realise we were all here to pat each other on the backs. If random approval from someone on the internet is something you seek then I feel for you.

The Sealine versus Fairline versus Princess debate is old and hackneyed and had been done to death on here over the past two decades. Not even Sealine owners claim they are the world's best built boats and you're within your rights to start a new thread to discuss it if you like. Despite being a bit if a Fairline fan, I won't be joining in as I've long ago realised that all boats can be fun and Sealine's have other qualities such as space, practicality, value etc. A visit to the Sealine forum will give you some feel for the loyal following they have.

But this thread is about a successful delivery trip and an excited owner. To denigrate that is poor form. If you can't see that then perhaps this forum isn't the place for you.

Perhaps if the owner had started the thread then I'd be inclined to agree but he didn't. It was a commercial post and as such open to critique.

Great vid and a nice looking boat. Those 410's have great accommodation and I should think the new owner is delighted. He should be! :)

Great video and thanks for sharing, the new owner must be proud as punch with it. I'd have liked that as a first trip and having a pro skipper on board for the delivery would have taught me a lot.

Well I thoroughly enjoyed the video. Wishing the new owner many happy memories and trouble free sea miles.
Well done to Halcyon Yachts on another delivery and happy customer whom I hope joins up here. Not everyone here is a berk :encouragement:

In fact, Jimmy, the Sealine 410 was a "ground breaker" in her time.
Without designs like that, we wouldn't have had our Sealine T51.
In those days, Sealine lead the way innovating designs - squeezing space out of places you wouldn't expect to find space.
IMO, it was designs like this that drove the market into all the boats we now have.

And the Sealine 410 is still a great boat.

To the OP - Good luck with her and thanks for posting a great video.

Plus 1 for that: I suspect that the new owner still has a fat, wide grin on his face-and rightly so.

That Sealine 39' hull begat so many models, up to and including the F43. With the right power packs, that hull will be behave well in most weathers.

Good luck to him.
