I hail from round the corner in SE Kent, but I must confess I enjoy much of the content of this forum. I can identify with it here rather than with the Solent crowd. Creep, creep.
 
Dont know about this ..

Trouble is if we open the East Coast Forum to EVERYONE we might as well not bother .. You have to draw the line somewhere .. But if you want it re-drawn then .. Mines a PINT .. Welcome to the BEST PART OF THE FORUMS ......
 
I think we once sort of thought that possibly, given a long consultation period, and if we had any rules at all, which is unlikely, we might have said, over a pint or two, that maybe if we had to put our minds to it, that, given a consensus, if that were likely, that at the end of the day, we would possibly settle on Eastbourne as being East Coast forum.

I think, that, for the sake of balance, we haven't ruled out the Pentland Firth as being northerly boundary of East Coast.

Well then let's try and do that in 2010, eh? Several possiblities occur to me, for instance....
All meet up at Swale Marina (head of Conyer Creek). It dries. Nice pub, or marina clubhouse might cater.
All meet up at Harty Ferry, moorings or anchor, dinghy ashore to Ferry House Inn (hairy, very hairy, if it's windy). Best in settled weather. Good adventure though.
Meet up in Stangate Creek, on anchor, raft up.
Meet up in Hoo Marina on the Medway, behind a cill, it partly dries (unless they've dredged it recently); eat at Hoo Ness YC (Gin of this parish hails from there).

Excellent idea.
Can you have a look at the 2010 tides and give us a post April date? Coming out of the Crouch, we need 1/2 outgoing tode to Whitaker, and 1/2 incoming tide to take across the Estuary to the Swale entrance.

We (HNYC) would love to welcome you to the club- I'm sure we would have plenty of moorings; the club premises and Hoo Marina(next door neighbours) have half tide access via the sinouous Orinoco creek, so either a timely visit ashore to socialise and eat and return to boats afloat- we can help with a launch service if necessary, or stay in the marina over the tide and enjoy the club/galley at your leisure and no stumbling about in the dark in dinghies after a few sherberts, which is very iffy as the trots are about 1/2 mile from the slipway.

We haven't yet sorted out our 2010 programme, and tides are just as important for us too but each Bank Holiday we have a gathering away (usually St. Kats is the first (April), then Burnham, early May, Ramsgate late May, then Blackwater August) The Swale may be a venue for a normal (2 day) weekend next year. So those are the dates to avoid or perhaps choose to access a greater number of vacant becoming available?

If you are interested let me know your intentions as we are regularly visited by a number of Essex clubs based across the estuary in tha Canvey/ Tilbury areas. They particularly like a Sunday roast from Christine in the galley, for a very modest cost, so it is important that we manage group visits to avoid disappointment

When I took my wee boat out on its first outing down the creek, I went on the putty , was neaped at Hollowshoreand it took 12 days before I got off - does that qualify me?
Doubt I will get to many outings as I can't leave swmbo long and I'm nearly an octogenarian - still with you in spirit.
