A few hardy souls at Yarmouth

And fyi the gents facilities now totally refurbished and extremely smart!!! I guess the hike in overnight fees goes to pay for such things... but seems we need another hike to get the ladies facilities upgraded as the mrs isn’t impressed!

we were planning on heading to Yarmouth in our Twister on sat:
1) we had a berth booked
2) we had a table booked at Salties - subsequently cancelled due to fire
3) we then booked table for a bite at The George - subsequently cancelled due to them not being ready?
4) tried to book for a bite at the Italian - they were not ready

and then the weather was gusting 8 on the nose with a terrible chop with some bigger rollers in the western Solent.

We went to Cowes!

Are they still keeping your upfront payment of booking fees if you can’t get there, perhaps refunding or giving credit? Probably not

I see it like this: you have two options at Yarmouth - book, and risk not showing up, or don't book - and risk the harbour being full.

I assumed that July 4th would be crazy busy... tides where perfect, and the first night of being legally allowed to stay overnight - so we booked.

When we left the Hamble there were a few other boats heading out - from little us to a stunning swan ketch... in the end everyone seemed to turn back when they got beyond Lepe...

Cowes was pretty empty, too!
