A crazy fortnight!!

Richard Davies. He has a company called Oceans Kleen. He's quite young, looks terribly yachtie (should be on a Volvo RTW boat!), but we specifically asked the seller if he would get him to do it (he's paying). We have sat on our boat and watched him cut/polish another boat opposite us when in Chi - talk about thorough, an absolute perfectionist. He is taking a full working week to do the S48 (which is not too bad anyway) - says it all I think. He's based in Brighton too, and comes VERY highly recommended.

Anyway, how are you Jim??

Sorry guys, that was a bum steer. His company is called Oceans Clean. See website www.oceansclean.co.uk

Nice boat! We never got beyond the S34.....

Just curious as to how the broker made any money on the deal (For the sale of your S41).... Did you pay a commision to him???

Good call with Richard Davies - he's looked after my last three boats - does the monthly valets, and also the annual polishes etc. He is absolutely excellent.

All good here thanks, loving the T40, sitting on it right now in the hot sunshine at El Gosporto in fact.

Cheers
Jimmy

PS don't know if you'll remember this, but my favourite quote of the year so far continues to be "I don't normally talk to people"... :-)

No, we told him we needed £x in our pockets, and it was up to him to charge the buyer enough to take some commission and be able to give us what we wanted. We were happy with our money, and he made a bit out of it too.

Mike,

Big change from sterndrives to shafts. I think you'll enjoy the handling. We had S41 and the windage is huge (specially with all the canvas up) so being "on" the water as well made it lively berthing in brisk conditions. Suspect you'll find the S48 a doddle by comparison. Good luck with her.

Did you have 'chine walk' issues with the 41? We did - it didn't bother me too much but passengers sometimes a bit worried by it.

I too suffer occasionally from chinewalking on my S41. Doesn't bother me but my passengers just think it's my krappy helming!!!!! Easy to trim out though..

S48 passed it's survey today with no problems. A few niggly bits eg shower hose on transom split, all being fixed before we take delivery on Saturday.

Doesn't look like it will be much of a test for the boat on the trip back to our berth in Swanwick though, winds forecast at 2/3kts and 23 degrees of temperature!!
