I reckon a bit more than 35, but you're right, 60 knots is quite a claim, my H28 is deep v and a pair of 165's give 32 knots, but its not a straight line relationship between hp and top speed, I reckon would need 1000 hp to hit 60 knots....

Well he's got 540 gee gee's in a boat that only 25 feet long. Dunno how much the thing weighs tho, prob not more than 2 ton. My boat goes in at about 1.5 ton. With the 140'ish horses I have it'll hit 30 knots. All things be equal I reckon that the Triana should be hitting somewhere near the mid 50's easy.
Luverly boat tho.....just wish I could bloody afford one, but then is I had that sort of money kicking about I'd look at a Swordsman.....if only

Triana 25 / Tropicas originally weighed in at around 3500 Kgs and with twin Volvo 170s reputedly gave 37 knots.

I sea trialled one with twin 212 Steyrs [absolutely superb engines] and that was supposed to achieve 40 knots, I didn't have my GPS with me but it certainly felt that good.

So I reckon with twin 270s it has got to be good for 50+ mebbe 52/3 on a good day, but 60 I would doubt, not with 25° of deadrise anyway. You'd prob'ly need 600-700 hp.

Mind you, the fact that he's offering 1000 Galls of petrol with the boat has to say something!

I do have to say it does sound rather good tho!!

I own a triana with Twin Styers it has about 400hp and just touches 40knots on a flat day but with the hull shape it has it is best when its a little bit lumpy!

Re: old fast boats

It has newish engines in fact, its just had some keel damage fixed, but its generally scruffy, needs lots of paint and varnish plus probly some woodwork too but is still i reckon a good buy, its Transworld selling it.

Re: 60 knot triana

All that fuss about 60(nautic miles?/land miles?/km/h?).I recently bought this triana because I'm in love with her classic lines. The boat is now in Belgium in dry store for general inspection and maintenance. I'm looking to contact people who where involved in the construction of this boat,(hull nr 125,build in 1997).
If somebody can help,I will be verry grateful.
If petrol prices don't rice any more ,I come back with the true speed of the boat.

Hi Charly

Welcome to the forum, glad to hear you got her back home OK in one piece, where will you be using her? hopefully in some proper offshore stuff like she was built for, let us know how you get on.
