4 Bavs Aground

Re: Hmm, what about...

Depends where you're going to put it; and for me, wind is too unreliable (except after a couple of pints of real ale). I think somewhere off Netley might be a good place, the tide could then be used to power the wheel - cheap and reliable. It might be a bit of a bummer around the Southampton high water stand, but that's where your turbine generator accessory thing would come in handy for charging a couple of 140 amp/hour batteries for back up power in these slack periods. Can't help but think we've got the germ of an idea here.....or maybe I should get out more!!

Re: \'s just what I said

That's hurtful!! ....(not really). There were 240 deposits taken at the Southampton Show for various Bavs. Surely, myself and 239 others cannot ALL be wrong! Bavaria must be doing something right - wonder how the other manufacturers fared - no doubt just as well. Many people still like shiny new boats rather than gamble on dodgy second hand ones. Ask anyone who went to the Used Boat Shows - there was real rubbish on offer at silly asking prices. Not a hope in hell of selling most of them against the deals for new ones at SBS

Re: Great idea

This is chust typical, Ken, here we are trying to come up with some constructive solutions to real problems and you just act the Luddite. Why do'nt you enter the modern world? If you really want to stay stuck in a 1930's timewarp take up bowling.

Even Better Idea

I've dismissed the wheel thing as impractical. You'll get Luddite sabateurs like Ken who'll take great delight in catapulting ballbearings through the boat bottoms as they slowly revolve in the whispering breeze.

My current project is rather than get rid of the submarine barriers we just build them up into large breakwaters, stuff a couple of gate in between the forts & at Hurst point. No more tidal worries. and we can all moor stern to the breakwaters a la Med.

This, I think, is the real way forward for the Solent!

So many people can't be wrong?

OH YES THEY CAN - just look at how many people voted for Blair :)

Stinkpots must be laughing big time at the squabbles between raggies. Now look what you've done, Ken! All your fault!

Re: Hmm, what about...

Is it true that there are little serrations down the side of a Bav from where it was torn off at the end of the production line?
