Hi All,

was asking around a boat show about 3rd party only insurance and was only got one positive reply. This was mainly due to Annie Hills letter in Mag.

Does any member here have 3rd party only insurance and if so with whom?

best regards

Hamish

Info given to me ..

My insurance is due now and I asked about this ..... information was that Wreck Removal cover is not there and most marinas etc. will not accept 3rd Party. OK so who's to know etc. and in all probability you can find many who have and are accepted with 3rd party cover.
I know that my marina when you check the small print requires Wreck Removal cover - which 3rd party doesn't give.

If you think that cover for Wreck removal is a joke .... consider this - Can you afford the cost of a Marine crane and lift from the marina seabed if your boat is wrecked and sunk alongside etc.

Re Pantaenuis

Thanks but at boat show they were NOT interested in third party cover. I was also asking about single handed cover and this company was THE company to ask for this. Again not interested.

regards

Re: Correction to Info given to me ...

May be its that we all need clarification from insurance industry of what is and is not covered under "third party only". The problem of wreck removal was raised.
Say you hit the beach and the boats seriously damaged, YOU have to pay for the boat (wreck) to be it removed.

PS away next week so apologies if I do not reply

Hi hamish

I dont know whether I really want to mention this or whether it will be of any help to you. SAGA are certainly offering third party cover according to their literature.
they also gave me a very reasonable quote for my insurance.

The Basic Baot Liability site seems to be someway towards to stating what and what not ..... and it covers Wreck Removal in its 3rd Party Cover.

I am seriously thinking about reduction of cover but will check out more before making the final decision as its a minefield ..... Insurance !!!!

Just got it myself from Nautical Insurance Services 01702 470811, £96. But it does exclude wreck removal.
