Been using a Torqeedo 1103 with an old Wetline 230 hard transom inflatable.

Experience has been good but as the Wetline weighs about 26/27 kilo all up and I'm not getting any younger, I'm looking at replacing the tender with a lighter one.

Done a fair bit of research and have narrowed my choice down to two either the 3D Twin V or Crewsaver 230.

I am drawn to the 3D as it is supposed to be lighter and has a V shaped keel but it is at least £300 odd quid more, there's a couple of things I prefer the Crewsaver for though.

The deal breaker though could be that the 3D does not have much sponson aft of it's transom and as the Torqeedo's battery (the heaviest part) is well aft - it's likely to tip the tender backwards - if that makes sense.

Anyone any experiences with using a Torqeedo on either a 3D Twin V or Crewsaver 230 ?

I have use a 1003 with a 3D 270 VIB. The VIB floor projects after of the transom. Never had an issue with two outboards on the transom (yes an additional 3.3 two stroke).

270 was very light. Bag is useless (rips). Never packed it down to stated size. Material is quite thin. Nice large tubes. Due to material thickness would not expect it to last forever conpared to a thicker material tender. However that is the tradeoff for lightness.

Overall it worked well. Would have kept it if it fitted in the locker!!!

Did not plane, but was fine even in quite tidal waters like Alderney.

I recently bought a new 3D 250 V-hull mainly due its weight and the transom being far enough back to give more room inside compared to other makes.
I fitted an Epropulsion outboard and also tried out my 4hp 2-stroke which i think is a bit too powerful. No problem with the weight.
The storage bag is crap. You'd think it would be a fold out flat bag and then zip up around, but no. You have to fold up the dinghy and try and slide it into an half open bag.
It could also do with some grab handles on the dinghy around half way along just to make carrying easier on your own.
Overall I am pleased with the look and ease of use.

I can confirm that on the 270 VIB I would have no worries about the perceived tipping backwards problem. In my experience this is only an issue with the small roundtail's, like the 230R which I have witnessed the comedy moment starting a small outboard single handed.
In fact I like the transom near the back as you get more space in the boat for people and stuff!
Large tubes and V floor make for a much dryer ride as well.
