Comes into the 'Not many people know this' category, because not many speak Tibetan.

A yak is the male* of the species. A lady yak is a nak. Boats are generally considered female gender. Thus, your boat should be called 'Nak'.

*that's why I've always resisted the temptation to drink yak's milk.

I mentioned earlier my boat named Tzu.. It has a Chinese symbol at the bow that the guy I bought from says means 'Tzu' or love and peace or tranquility. As no one in my club can read Chinese some are saying it means 'drink coca cola'

Back to the OP, I see no reason why a short name would be problematical, unless you mean a TLA.

It was an American who introduced the accusative of vis,the Latin word for energy to the English language .

I have always thought that JO would be a good name for a boat.

It is a Scottish work for sweetheart and means "I am afloat" in the International Code of Signals.

Although, if taken in isolation, the two letters could mean "I am leaking dangerous cargo and have a man overboard".....'

The first time we called into Dartmouth after buying Eos we could not believe that the first boat we saw sailing out of the river was also called Eos! Berthed about 200m from us.
