Google has failed me. Where can I get a meter to put on the shore power. Trying to avoid a fixed price of £1 a day to run a small heater. Marina says that the alternative is to get a meter. This is in Milford Haven Marina/

What you need is a power consumption or watt hour meter. Before you buy anything check with that marina as to what they will find acceptable. Some will only accept an inline meter ( in the power cord ) so that they can read it themselves on the pontoon. Some will accept other types. You can buy meters from all over. They range from adapted 3 pin plug types like this to proper weatherproof units. I have a panel meter mounted in my distribution panel ( from RS components ) but to read that I would have to invite the marina fellas aboard.

Google 'power meter' or 'kwh meter' for better results

I have a meter on my boat made by a company called Elster.

Didn't look round much but a quick Google found one the same here.

A lot more expensive but doesn't require installation (so that cost is saved) would be a Meter Maid.

£1 a day, if unmetered, sounds a bargain for heating. At say 16p/kWHr that would only buy 6 kWHr. A heater rated at a mere 250w will use that in a day, and that's a really small heater.
PS; Aldi presently have 3-pin power meter socket adapters, which measure total power use, for £7-99

We have an in-line meter which simply plugs into the dockside connection

Not cheap but dead simple to fit. Got it after the shock of our first marina bill.

Hi There,

We were in Milford for years, the usual type is something like metermaid which connects to the marina socket so they can view it monthly/quarterly.

We are in the Neyland area and im selling a meter and cable similar to the metermaid, it has been used previously in Milford marina.

It's a heck of a long cable to supply power from Milford Haven to Bradwell, Roger. Have you done a runner from the east coast?

When I first read £1 a day.....My immediate reaction was "Bargain".....and still is. Don't shoot yourself in the foot. I'd love to be on those kind of rates.
