Currently working out the plan of when to meet. Original plan of starting Thurs eve seems unworkable due to Morgana babysplitting problems, so Friday afternoon/evening meet for the girls.

I thought the plan was to meet Blackwater Sat eve if weather is friendly (that is girlei friendly)... is this still the plan or do you prefer some lumps of concrete to a beer drinking establishment on the mainland?

Any comments?
 
I am not now sure whether Beyond Reason is going to be up to the task.

Last weekend - barbeque at the rocks - my engine overheated with no obvious cause. Thinking about it, I am wondering whether the build up of weed and other nasties is to blame. My theory is that if the prop and shaft are all weedy, and the boat's bottom is certainly weedy, the engine might be having to work too hard to get anywhere, hence the overheating.

If this is the case, the cure would be to lift her out and scrub. I don't really have time before the girlie weekend to do the scrubbing post thing and - being a bit frugal in nature - am disinclined to pay for a lift and scrub when it is so close to the end of the season.

As the prop is really close to the transom, I did venture down the boarding ladder on Sunday with a mind to clean around the prop, but came to the conclusion only full immersion and breathing apparatus would be required.

Hmm, so we need another boat! Where does Pipedream live? Would this be a possibility, or otherwise maybe one of the others has a boat we can use?
 
I (we) may be able to come. Need to check with the Admiral. Remind me of the plan again...

What's the lat/long of this fort? We tend to regard the Thames estuary as an obstacle to getting to the flesh pots of France so don't know it too well except to pass swiftly over. Could make berth(s) available if we come.
 
I would have loved to join you girls and could have provided boat, but will be at Southampton re: David and Colros. Couldn't make BBQ last weekend either, but hope to join all you East Coasters another time.

Talked all this through with Mr FullCircle this evening, and here's a suggestion of an alternative plan that should sort out any issues of boats being in the wrong places, provide adequate berths and allow for Bernies concerns over her engine etc.....

The girls to all assemble at Burnham... and will use FullCircle/Solene/Vreny/Summer Solstice as appropriate (bearing in mind that we only have two girl skippers, so only two boats on the water - but additional overnight accomodation if needed).... the boys to head to Shotley and use Morgana....

Abandon the Saturday night meet up (as per last year), and do our own things..... that way berths are available as needed at Burnham for the girls on various boats, and there is no need for shifting boats from one place to another Friday evening as we found last year that Jim was knackered sailing over Friday night followed by a late night saturday, and a late Sunday return - not fair on whoever has to move their boat to a different location, and adds a lot of pressure to finish very early Sun... plus the tides aren't good for that anyway....

Attendee list as provisionally published above..... additional attendees very welcome, but need to follow the 'girls in one location, boys in the other' plan, as thats the whole point, and will need to consider boats/berth space too... I am sure we can work it out though..... so don't be afraid to stick your hands up!

Boys.... initial thoughts for our trip are:

A bash up to Lowestoft and back
Anchor off Rough Towers for a roast dinner
Down to the Medway to Queensborough ATL
Lunch at anchor off Gallopers
anything else crazy/appealling/daft that anyone can think of....

I quite like the idea of Lowestoft, as we all tend to gravitate towards the southern end of the East Coast, so it'd be a bit of a change.....

Thoughts as to whether this makes sense?
