They belong to the US Air Force/ Services.I saw them in use last year and talked to the guys using them. They were a bit coy about the actual use, I asked them if it was rescue stuff and they said something like that.They seemed to be having a good time.

Currently working on insulating the fridge - originally designed and installed with no insulation whatsoever ! Replacing the holding tank - thanks for the supplier suggestion Sailorman, replacing upholstery - thanks for the supplier suggestion Paul Rainbow.
Oh and I might start on some of the headlining panels !

By the way Onia, I've recently built two bespoke fridges and I used Aerogel insulation.
Amazing stuff as you use around 1/3 of the insulation space for the same thermal performance.
It is quite a strange material to use but once you get the hang of it the results are great.

No.1 task; had a bob on an swinging arm made this time last year for top of the mast, very proud of it until at the Ipswich OGA Festival somebody pointed out how noisy it was. Since then nights awake listening to the graunching sound, so coming off to be reworked with a bearer etc. 2nd job is to turn bowsprit into a lifting one. Almost put a neat 6" hole in a very shiny yacht at SYH in August & don't want to go through that again.

H'umph. Seems to be very popular demand ont the part of insurance companies. Nice lot mine - 1. require a survey 2 - OK. 3. Survey done and paid. 4. Result? Fine. 5. Insurance Company "We don't insure caraft that are over 50 years". "Err, you have already insured her for 4 years over 50 years of age. Why did you require me to have a survey if you weren't going to cover me anyway"? "Hello, hello, anyone there"? Nice people? T'ish. But I have another syndicate and its cheaper and it's better cover.

I also have been asked for an insurance survey, but not until next winter so I will be sailing this summer and have it done at winter 2017.

It may be worth asking around a few insurance brokers, the approach to surveys does vary. When my old boat was approaching 20, I anticipated having to have an insurance survey and replaced the standing rigging. Then a broker was recommended to me who said I wouldn't have to bother with a survey until the boat was 25 years old. And I sold it just before that! The broker incidentally was Nautical Insurance in Leigh-on-Sea - www.nautical-insurance.co.uk

T'was Nautical Insurance who said the underwriters wanted a survey. Shame they didn't just say 'sorry you're too old'. I am sorted as I said.
