2016 Scuttlebutt Cherbourg Cruise

Chubby is on p62, would be great to meet up this afternoon, evening, re the wine tastings, if numbers limited I can drop out, our wine cellar at home is full to bursting so unlikely to buy any!!!

Menu change at suggestion of YC.

Starter will be country pate as sea bream tartare is a raw fish. I assume the YC are more aware of english tastes so gone along with their suggestion. I may ask for a sample of the sea bream tartare so I can try it.

Indeed it is. Steak tartare is raw minced beef. So tartare de daurade is bream sushi.

I was thinking "yum!", but I'll eat most things. So "terrine de campagne" is fine with me. (I think that is what we had last year). :encouragement:

Apologies for the short notice but in view of the forecast I am (yacht: Hanser ) pulling out of the trip.
Bon voyage to all

Sa Punta set off 05.00 this morning 32kts on the nose south of IOW so we turned back now in Cowes.
We will stay in Solent for the weekend so sadly withdraw from the cruise

I wish you a great time

Derek

I've had to pull out based on the weather, but I'm still going to go round the Solent. Perhaps those of us who can't make the crossing could meet up somewhere in the solent?

Sorry to hear that Derek. Thought it might get a bit lively today - that's why we sloped off yesterday afternoon.

Having similarly pulled out because of the very, very naff wind direction we too are happy to spend the weekend in the Solent.

Tonight we are at Wicormarine and had planned to do Friday night at Bucklers Hard but could bend to a little persuasion. Anyone here like to spend an evening at Yarmouth or Bucklers? We're happy to go with the flow...

I've started a new thread:

We're just leaving Portsmouth now, bit blustery but not too bad. Thinking of whacking over tonight as totland is a dead beat. Will post sea conditions once past Bembridge Ledge if anyone else is planning similar.
