OK there was an incorrect entry in the passage log, I blame the crew...! I just called out the numbers (need one of Hurricanes talking loggers) 🤣

Corrected figures as follows:

a) Full fuel and water loads, two crew
b) Actual trip length 212.9nm
c) 75% relatively flat sea, 0.1m to 0.5m swells and calm wind state
d) 25% rough and lumpy having to throttle back
e) Cruised perfectly at 25-6 knots and 2000rpm
f) Throttled back to 16 knots (less economical I know) to minimise slamming and meet the frequency of the waves on the nose
g) Actual trip duration: 10 hours
h) Total tank(s) capacity: 1980L
i) Approximate amount of fuel burn: 1612L

Final fuel burn for this trip: 1612/212.9 = 7.57 litres/nm

I originally estimated (#1) 175 litres/hour, based on an 8 hour run, but due to weather conditions we actually achieved 161 litres/hour on a 10 hour run likely due to throttling back.

Actual route taken:

Bit of a shame to have cruised straight past the northern Costa Blanca. It's a lovely area.

And at a very respectable overall average speed of 21.3 kts, which is still a good and consistent result.
In fact, in my previous post #50, I only called the 6 L/Nm at 26 kts "very good", but that was a massive understatement.
"Unreal" is what actually popped to my mind first...
I just didn't want to come across as if I didn't take your word for it!

Yes, I did post a bit early I think, and when you summed it up, it made me think ‘No that’s not possible!’ 🫨. Then I noticed the error, so thanks for pointing that out so gently @MapisM…!

All comments were very much appreciated.

WoT the boat made 31.7 knots on the sea trial out of an advertised 33. Properly trimmed (sadly Broker had the helm) I am confident we could have achieved that.

I will post a separate thread about Buyer/Broker negotiations but that’s another story….!😁

Hi John - none of my business, of course, but I got a bit lost in the side discussions about engine-kindliness and wasn’t sure if this is your new boat or someone else’s.

Either way I’ve always liked the Phantom 50 ever since I used to be berthed next to one that absolutely towered over the Portofino 31 that I had at the time.

A 200nm+ trip straight out of the box shows that this one is a great example of the marque.

Hi

I have a Princess 45 berthed in Sant Carles de La Rapita (now known only as La Rapita). Been in that marina now for 15 years.

The Ph50 is owned by a chap called Lester, he was a neighbour in our marina for years, I think this is his third or fourth boat (Targa-40, Azi-42, Ph50).

He just needed assistance surveying, planning and getting it across!

I must say I was impressed by the performance and good sea-keeping of the boat.

Hi,John, This is my 4th motor yacht, my 1st boat was a Sealine 33 ,purchased at Burton Waters, Lincoln, followed by the Targa 40 (stunning sports cruiser ) and then the Azimut 42 another fine craft for living aboard.
Thanks again for your valued assistance crossing from Mallorca to the mainland, a really enjoyable voyage.
