Re: good tagline, wakeup!

Americanisms, don't you just hate them! My pet hates at the moment are '24/7', yuk! and 'Back in the day' TV programs from the Americas have a lot to answer for. Now our own programs for example, there you have genius at work. Take Eastenders, mockney has been elevated to new hights, along with Dellboy speak from the southeastern suburbs of this fair city. Nowhere is this more evident than the flash little here today gone tommorow trading oiks of the city proper. I don't know what it is. I just feel I want to punch them in the face as soon as one speaks to me in a condisending way or treats other people as if they were below them.

Yes I think that the affect that TV has had on the lives of the populace is for the worst. I remember Dick Barton on the wireless. A good clean living sort of chap that didn't have to stoop so low as to basterdise the queens english and yet still got the message across in proper and articulate way. Pah! Americanisms, you can keep them thankyou very much.

Re: good tagline, wakeup!

Even our news programs are using "9/11" When refering to the twin towers. Whats wrong with 11th September, or 11/9/01?

I think they mean "now" don't they?

Re: Ooo dunno

Learner

Ireckon this is like being in the pub all day - "listening" to a load of drivel and a few gems and no hangover afterwards as a bonus

and can still look forward to going to the real pub

Ooo.Hadn\'t Thought

of that. Guess it is. You even get to go and have a drink in another local like Shutyourbutt occasionally. But you always get to come back 'cos you don't like the crowd around there 'cos it's all rather common. Plus the fact it's all a lot more homly in your own pub , what with Oldgit sat in the corner, and wakeup and TCM throwing 'arrers around.

Course ,what would happen if hlb came in a little worse for wear I really don't know ............... /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
